Why run Attentive surveys in ConvertFlow
Most survey tools give you a report. The answers sit in a dashboard, someone reads them once, and nothing downstream changes.
A survey wired into Attentive behaves differently. Each answer writes to a custom attribute — the thing Attentive segments and personalizes on — and can fire an event that an Attentive journey listens for.
The second part is what makes this more than a capture tool. Create event works independently of subscribing, so you can ask a question of someone already on your list and start a journey from their answer, without trying to re-subscribe anybody.
Before you build: the sign-up unit
If your survey will also subscribe people, Attentive requires their service team to register an API sign-up unit for ConvertFlow, and they'll give you a sign-up ID.
For a survey aimed purely at existing subscribers you only need Create event, which doesn't require the sign-up ID.
Connect Attentive to ConvertFlow
From ConvertFlow's Integrations page, click to connect with Attentive, then grant ConvertFlow access to your account.

How to build the best Attentive surveys
By adding a survey to your ConvertFlow landing page, popup, or embed, you can ask visitors a question and present fixed answers for them to select.
To add one, click to add an element and choose the "survey" element type.
Survey options
Once you've selected a survey element, you'll be able to manage its options in the builder panel.

Add options, arrange their position, edit their text, and map the survey to an Attentive custom attribute. Toggle "multi-select" if visitors should be able to choose more than one — multiple values are written separated by commas.
Each option can also carry an image, so the survey can present clickable images rather than text.
To control additional settings for your survey options, such as:
- Separating the data value from the displayed label
- The image used in the survey option
- The score increase or decrease applied by the option
Click on the survey option to open a settings modal where you can control each of these.

Map answers to Attentive custom attributes
Use the "Map to custom field" setting on the survey element.
Keep answer values short and consistent — too-expensive rather than It was a bit too expensive for me. These are the strings your Attentive segments match against, and they may end up in a text message where length costs money.
Styling your survey
Below the option settings and in the "Themes" tab, you'll find style controls — width, text alignment, fonts, colours, sizing, whether options are stacked or responsive, drop shadows and more.

Survey confirmation actions
With a survey element selected, click to the "Actions" tab to choose what happens when someone selects an option.

- Redirect visitors to a URL
- Show another step in the campaign, or specific steps based on the selection
- Display a thank you message
- Display another ConvertFlow campaign
- Open an SMS message to a phone number

Adding Attentive automations
Alongside ConvertFlow actions, add Attentive automations once someone has answered — subscribe to sign-up unit, or create event.

For a survey aimed at existing subscribers, Create event is the one you want. It acts on someone who already exists rather than trying to create them again, and an Attentive journey can listen for that event and respond immediately.
That makes an answer actionable rather than archival: someone who says they've already bought can enter a different journey than someone still deciding.
Running scripts & pixels on completion
By adding scripts to your survey's confirmation actions, you can fire conversion pixels and perform other custom javascript. ConvertFlow runs scripts added here only after a survey option has been selected.
Adding conditional logic
By default the survey performs the confirmation action you've set. Click "+ Add Conditional Action" to act only on visitors meeting your conditions — useful for firing a different event per answer.

If the survey also collects a number
Use the dedicated SMS consent checkbox with your required disclosures, and turn on phone verification so numbers arrive in the E.164 format Attentive expects.
SMS opt-in has to be explicit — a generic privacy checkbox isn't equivalent. Requirements differ by region and change, so confirm your wording with Attentive or your own counsel.
Use the answers in Attentive
Once answers are landing as custom attributes, build Attentive segments from them and personalize your sends. An attribute collected on your site is worth more than behavioural inference, because the subscriber told you directly.
